Este trabajo tiene como objetivo principal crear una tensión entre el individuo y su entorno  mediante la integración de medios que evocan  el poder de las estructuras, los códigos secretos por los cuales nos relacionamos y las reglas invisibles presentes en las interacciones cotidianas entre personas.

Así pretendo hacer un desplazamiento de mi taller al lugar de exposición en donde  el proceso se entiende como parte del resultado final de la obra.

La idea es vincular de manera directa al espectador con mi trabajo mostrando el proceso de como este “mapa de ideas” se va construyendo así mismo mediante imágenes o textos acerca de opiniones personales, referentes, citas, códigos,  libros leídos, íconos sociales  etc… y estableciendo relaciones de poder entre las distintas imágenes dispuestas sobre la tela.

Las imágenes de óleo sobre acrílico están dispuestas sobre el formato de forma autónoma entre ellas haciendo alusión  a un estado de desconexión con su entorno.

Es importante entender este trabajo como una acumulación de partes separadas que cobran sentido al establecer relaciones entre ellas, similar al método elaborado  por Aby Warburg en su “Atlas Mnemosyne” en el cual propone una cartografía abierta, regida por criterios propios de límites semánticos difusos, siempre abiertos, a sucesivas ampliaciones de campo o contenidos.

Mi motivación frente a este tema en particular es  porque  creo que estamos atravesando un momento donde la velocidad, los cambios, el acceso al conocimiento se hacen protagónicos en cómo nuestro entorno cambia cada vez más rápido y nuestra dificultad para adaptarnos a él produciendo una tendencia hacia el individualismo como síntoma de nuestros tiempos.

 

Inhabiting the world

The objective of this work is to create a tension between the individual and its environment, by integrating the media that evokes the power of the structures, the secret codes in our relationships and the invisible rules that are present in our daily interactions.

In this way, I transfer my workshop to the place where the exposition is taking place and I make explicit the fact that the process is part of the final outcome of the work.

The idea is to link directly the spectator with my work, by showing the process in which the map of ideas builds itself with images and text about personal opinions, references, quotations, codes, books, social icons, etc… and establishing power relations between the different images arranged on the canvas.

The images made with oil on acrylic are arranged independently, alluding the state of disconnection they have with its own environment.

It is important to understand this work as a collection of separate parts that only make sense when they stablish a relation with each other, similar to the method created by Aby Arburg in

“Atlas Mnemosyne” in which he proposes an open cartography, ruled by fuzzy semantic boundaries, always open to successive enlargements of fields or content.

My interest in this particular issue is because I believe we are facing a time in which the speed, the changes and the access to knowledge becomes protagonist in the way our environment changes increasingly faster and how difficult is for us to adapt to it, producing a tendency towards individualism as a symptom of our times.
